Representation with Xanadu Gallery in our Scottsdale, AZ location

A Note from Jason Horejs

Owner, Xanadu Gallery

“What does it take to build a successful relationship with a well-established art gallery?”

“What steps do I need to take to prepare myself to successfully show and sell my work through a gallery?”

“Is my work good enough to sell in galleries?”

These are just some of the many questions I regularly receive from artists. I’ve shared many insights into how galleries work and how artists can build partnerships with galleries, but what if you could see the process from the inside? What if you had a mentor to guide your preparation?

Xanadu Gallery’s Mentorship, now in it’s fifth year, is your opportunity to understand galleries, art sales, and the art business from a truly unique perspective as I select an artist to guide through the process and begin showing their work in my Scottsdale, Arizona gallery.

In bi-weekly, online broadcasts, I’ll provide practical and hands-on guidance in every aspect of the art business, and I’ll provide feedback on the quality, consistency and marketability of the selected Mentorship artist’s work. I’ll work with the Mentorship artist to craft an effective artist’s statement, biography, optimized website, and compelling portfolio.

Everyone who applies wins!

So how does this help artists who apply, but aren’t selected as the Mentorship artist?

Simple: all of the coaching and planning sessions will be broadcast live over the internet so that everyone who applies can watch the process as I take the Mentorship artist through the process of preparing and beginning to work with galleries.

Artists who watch the coaching sessions can follow along, ask questions and apply what they learn to their own work and career.

This will be a transformative experience for the selected artist, and for all artists who watch the consultation sessions. Everyone who participates will benefit from the real-world experience we gain.

I encourage you to apply for the Mentorship today! Learn how the mentorship will work below, and then click one of the red buttons on this page to apply now.

Who is Eligible

This program is open to all visual artists anywhere in the world who meet the following criteria:

Artforms: Painting (any media), Sculpture (any media), Fine Art Photography, Fine Art Drawing and Pastels, Digital Art, Collage, Fiber Art, Glass Art, Kinetic Art, Fine Art Jewelry.

Artforms not currently eligible:  Installation Art, Conceptual Art and Video Art.

Genre: Xanadu Gallery represents a wide range of work in a variety of styles. We will consider a broad range of genre: landscape, figurative, floral, abstract, animal, contemporary western, pop, botanical, cityscape, folk, found art, realism, and marine.

Experience: No gallery or prior sales experience is required, however, it will be helpful if you have experience producing artwork. The selected artist will produce 6-10 pieces for display in the gallery and should be ready to replace sold work.

Availability: The selected artist will need to be available for online consultations approximately every two weeks and should have available time to devote to creating and marketing artwork. We understand that many artists are forced to juggle multiple jobs and family life in order to make ends meet, and we will customize the online sessions to meet your scheduling needs. At a minimum, you should have at least 10 hours weekly that you can devote to your art during the program.

Technology: The sessions with Jason will be held in real-time, online. You should have a computer with a reliable internet connection (preferably high-speed). Because much of the consultation will be done virtually, it will be necessary for you to send images of your artwork via email. You should have a digital camera and the know-how to attach and email an image. If you don’t have this ability, you’ll need to find someone willing to help you.

Age: This program is open to artists from ages 18-110. At this time, we’re not seeking to cultivate child prodigies. If you are over 110, email us, we may issue a waiver!
